General Yahya Khan was the third President of Pakistan, serving from 1969 to 1971. He was a military leader who took over power after Ayub Khan resigned. Yahya Khan is best known for organizing Pakistan’s first general elections in 1970. However, his time in power was marked by political unrest and the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, which led to the separation of East Pakistan and the creation of Bangladesh. Following this defeat, he stepped down from power and was succeeded by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
